Y8 Camp Reflection

Y8 CAMP

At the end of term 1 most of the year 8s went to Marsden Bay Christian Bay Camp for a school trip.

After the 2-3 hour drive in the bus we finally reached our destination and it felt good. When we hopped off the bus we were all told to grab some bags and put them on the deck and with 10 seconds of reaching the camp it started raining. After managing to take all the bags inside we sat down and ate our lunch. After lunch we go inside to the meeting room where we talk about our activities.

After we finished getting all the bags in we sat down in our groups, And then we had to learn about friendship, Teamwork and Kindness. One way they taught us how to learn teamwork was by tying our hands together and made us make fruit Kebabs.

After that we went to our cabins and set up our rooms and beds, three people from my cabin were unable to come. So as we set up our room we noticed that we only had five people and that there were ten beds. Not long after were called in to get ready for dinner. After we finished dinner the teachers asked if we wanted to stay up to stay and watch Johnny English, some people went back to their cabins to get there sleeping bag and pillow and some went back to sleep in their cabins. Halfway thru the movie it decided to crash so everyone ended up going to sleep or staying up talking.

Day #2

Today started off with breakfast, then we went to our meeting room to find out what activities we were going to do. But because it was raining we had to turn to plan B, so first we just had fun while we were suppose to be on kayaks in the water but we had fun. While we were drawing we were asked if we wanted to go on the kayaks me and Te Mauri were lucky enough to go on them for a little and then we chucked everyone in. Our next activity was the waterslide the best thing about the camp it was so fun. It was a huge slide that was awesome one kid even went and got his soap. After we finished our time on the slide we went to have a shower and change our clothes for our last activity. Our last activity was archery and it was awesome while the other boys left and played around that meant I was able to have more shots.

After we finished all our activities we went back into the meeting room to get told we were allowed free time, everyone ran outside but me and my cousin (Josh) went straight to the soccer gladiator cage. But not long after that I was told from a teacher to go to the Flying Fox because my mum wanted me to (My mum was working the on the Flying Fox). After I got to the flying fox I got to go up, and I was so scared but as soon as I hit the top I was amazed, at the awesome view amazed, Mind Blown. Still a little bit scared i decided to get this over and done with as I step over the edge I instantly forgot the fear and felt the pain of the harness.

After the free time was over we went to the meeting room to discuss how much time we would have to prepare our team item we ended up getting 1 hour to prepare our item. After we finished preparing our item we were told to head back inside for dinner. We finished dinner and went back in the meeting room to do our items.

Some were smart, funny, cool and weird in the end we came last. Once we finished that we were aloud to stay up and watch Johnny English 2 or go to sleep I decided to stay up and watch it, but again it crashed half way thru.

Day #3

Today was the day we were cleaning, clearing and preparing after 1-2 hours of cleaning we got ready to leave. As we got back to school we had to unload everything and then we got to leave.

A Time Something Went Missing

As I have grown up I have lost many thing’s, I wouldn’t be surprised if you have to, some things were important to me some were not.

I think that everyone loses something at once, me I have lost my favourite pair of shoes, my favourite hats my phone and my MONEY!!!. What I have missed out the most on was my money and shoes well actually I miss all of them.

But this will be about my phone, so on a sunny weekend me my cousin and my mum were outside at the park. While me and Louis were playing with the ball and playing music (on my phone), my mum was relaxing on the bean bag. We were playing soccer, taking penalties and trying to skill each other. After around an hour or so, we got bored so we all packed our stuff and drove home. After around 10-20 minutes it started raining.

When we got home we started playing xbox after the rain cleared I walked louis back to his house and back. When I got home I played some more xbox and then had a shower and went to sleep. When I woke up I went into the lounge had breakfast and then when to go grab my phone… But as I walked in my room it wasn’t where it usually was and after that I remembered, I didn’t bring my phone back home.

So I ran out to my mum and told her that “I left my phone at the park!”. As I was wondering if it broke (from the rain) and so I ran across to the park to see if my phone was there sadly it wasn’t I ran home and told my mum that “It wasn’t there”.

A few days later my mum got a call apparently someone got my phone and called my mum. I was pretty excited when she told me, he told her to pick it up at the dairy so a few days later my mum went to the dairy and got back for me. I don’t know if it was wet but I was happy when I saw it was still working.

Immersion Assembly

First day of term 4 2015, as usual there's always a immersion assembly at the beginning of the term. Some were still recovering from the holidays.

To start things off Mr Burt made a movie for the beginning of term 4 it was about an annoying bird called a fiapoko (bird), and how it annoying a couple of kids at their own house at point Dingaling. As it annoyed the kids it got so bad that they called the fiapoko exterminators, and the fiapoko exterminators came to the house and the kids showed them to the bird as the exterminators killed the bird. The exterminators took the bird back to the house and put it in the oven, after it was cooked they pulled out a bag of KFC. (In this film no fiapokos were hurt as they were made up).

As we walked into the hall we saw some teachers dressed up in dinosaur masks and tutus. At this moment we didn’t know what our topic was so we were ready for what was to come. It went in order from Team 1 to Team 5. Each team had their own movie. Team 1 is going to the zoo to see how the animals adapt and live in the zoo. And they had a karaoke competition, they chose kids from year 1 to year 8. The prize was a trip to the zoo with team 1.

Team 5’s topic was about adaptation and how others have adapted to the surroundings. The team 5 teachers (Miss Peato, Miss Hockley, Miss Ingrim and Miss Clark) made a game show and the teachers were contestants on the stage, they were having a noodle eating contest but the challenge was to eat it with chopsticks. The first person to eat it all wins, as they got ready to start we could tell who was going to win, As they ate one teacher, Miss Clark was speed ahead as in eating them and it wasn’t long for her to finish the plate. The reason she won so quickly was because of where she was brought up, she was brought up in Tibet a region in China. Which is where people use chopsticks, After she won the other contestants had something to say. They said it wasn't fair since they were from Samoa, Tonga, England and New Zealand, Miss Peato (Samoa) explained that where they're from they don’t use chopsticks.
