Germany also holds 81.1 million people.

Title - Gummy Worm Experiment

Purpose: What do you want to learn/find out?

I want to find out why and how the worm juice actually forms into the gummy worms.

Hypothesis: Try to predict the answer to the problem. Another term for hypothesis is ‘educated guess’. This is usually stated like ” If I…(do something) then…(this will occur)

I thought that the liquids would just sit on top of each other and they would barely have contact.

Materials: List everything you will need to conduct your experiment.

Small Eco Cup Large Eco cup Solution Sodium Alginate originated from seaweed(Worm Juice) Red, Blue and Yellow. Pipettes Worm Activator Calcium Chloride

Experiment procedure: The fun part! Design a test or procedure to confirm or disprove your hypothesis. Write down each step so that someone else could do the same experiment.

Step 1: Put Calcium Chloride in water then mix until all is dissolved Step 2: When the water is ready you can pour or use your pipette to grab any color of worm Juice and watch the scientific magic happen Step 3: Play with the non-edible gummy worms

Analysis/Data: Record what happened during the experiment.

The Sodium Alginate (Worm Juice) mixed with the water that had Calcium Chloride and then the Sodium Alginate would not only dye the water but also create non edible Gummy Worms.

Conclusion:Review the data and check to see if your hypothesis was correct.

My thought of the ending result was wrong, the outcome was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. I expected the two liquids to barely touch, I guess I might’ve had a better Idea of what it was gonna end like If I actually used the title of the experiment.

Intro To Algebra Maths

We are going to learn about algebra and this was our first presentation.

These three friends are expecting to have a nice 1 day hike through the beautiful wilderness of the New Zealand outdoors but they would’ve never know what was to come ahead. Tahupotiki, David and Aroha are all good friends considered family and they love being outdoors especially when it was summer, they would like to go out to Mt Tiratanga in Whangarei and walk up the great mountain Mt Tiratanga was so big that it could reach the clouds and that it takes 1 day and 5 hours to make it across the whole thing.

So once again on the 12th of May they were going up it once again but this time Aroha was going to bring her dog with her, and David didn't really like animals but

Tahupotiki said “It's just for one day then that's it”

“Fine Fine Fine one day” sighed David

Aroha had to catch a plane from Christchurch, and she also had to leave her Husband behind because this trek was very important to them and the reason why is because not only do they own the land but the also use to walk up it every week with their parents. Well now they do it every year on the same day and they would like to keep doing it.

They met at the bottom of the hill and once again Tahupotiki had the biggest bag, he is always trying to prove how strong he is with his big muscles, amazing silky brown hair and his amazing Nike shoes, they would always mock him for always trying to be cool. David was the complete opposite of Tahupotiki he was short skinny and had thick Blond hair resembling the sight of 2 minute noodles, and Aroha looked like both of them but was in the middle between Tahu and David she was skinny and Luscious hair that sparkled in the night.They all said their prayers blessed each other for the task ahead and then started there journey. Aroha’s dog was nice and calm the German Shepherd named Maui was nice and quiet but it would always like to jump on people from time to time.

They were halfway through when they knew that there waterfall was nearby couple more steps and they saw it the beautiful glistening water from up above they put their gear down and all David did was take his socks, shoes and jumped into the water Aroha quickly behind him and Tahupotiki still trying to take his shoes off once he managed that he jumped as high and he could and did the biggest bomb in the fresh water they spent about the next 2 hours in the water doing biggest bombs, who can hold their breath the longest and marco polo and even the dog joined in, the trek was meant to be 1 day and 5 hours but because they spend so much time doing other things it's more like 2 days for them.

But as they were drying off Dave went to change behind privacy but after a while he didn't come back Aroha and Tahupotiki were changed and they wondered where he was they didn't know if this was a joke so they were a little bit scared and all of a sudden Maui jumped up and started barking at one spot in the bush. Aroha put on her bag and so did Tahupotiki and they followed the dog wondering what he was barking at they followed the dog until they found Dave lying on the ground fully clothed, bruises.

They took him back to a picnic table and they got out the First Aid kit and bandaged up all his bruises. Then when he woke up he’d look like he saw something that no one should see. In some weird way he just randomly passed out again so Aroha carried his bag while Tahupotiki carried David and they went back down the mountain where they could get service and David has Thanked that dog ever since.

Dear PM John Key,

My name is Zane and I am a student of Pt England School sending a letter to you about the bad water pollution that's going on at the moment. As you probably know a lot of fish and seabirds in Auckland are dying, and quick. The big reason is because of all the rubbish that is in the ocean and the fish and birds think that it might be food for them. All the rubbish and plastic gets left on the ground then gets blown into the ocean and then the fish and birds want to eat it because they think its food.

You need to do something about this. A lot of people would appreciate if you tried to stop all the rubbish going everywhere. Because at the moment it doesn't look like you care as much but maybe you should put fines on people who litter or set down some ground rules for the public. There are also some members of the public who do good and go in their own time to fix this problem. Maybe you should give some funding to these people.

If you don’t do anything about the situation now it can get a lot worse in the years to come and we wouldn't want to see what would happen if it didn't get stopped. If you see this don't just leave it, listen and do something to help the New Zealand Waters.

This is my book Review on a very good book called "Surviving Sharks And Other Dangerous Creatures"

Muscles

Muscles! We are learning about muscles and how they work and help us inside of our body.

Smooth Muscles are Bladder, Stomach and Intestines, these muscles are called involuntary muscles. If we didn't have smooth muscles we would pee before you could get to the bathroom. Smooth Muscles are found inside the stomach intestines and the bladder.

Cardiac Muscles pump blood around your body and they are muscles that work without you even trying like your heart your heart muscle is called myocardium.

Skeletal muscles are voluntary muscles which means that they only move when you make them move. Your skeletal muscles are connected to your bone by tendons. Bones Muscles and Tendons   make your body powerful.

The voluntary muscles are controlled by parts of the brain called cerebellum and the cerebral motor cortex. The brain sends messages to the muscles to work.

The Olympics

:The Olympics:

Back in 776 BC(Before Christ) was the first ever ancient Olympic games, it was held in Olympia Greece. The games were dedicated to the Olympian god.

There were only 13 games in the ancient Olympic games and now there are at least 28. The modern games are more exciting, for numerous reasons; there are larger crowds more people can watch it from the other side of the world on the tv, heaps more countries are participating and more people are breaking records.

Every Olympics the games travel to a different location this year it's being held in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. Last year it ventured to London, England and before that was Beijing in 2008. People build new buildings, new stadiums and even new Monuments for the visitors who are going to the country for the olympics.

Because Brazil isn't seeming like a safe place at the moment because of reasons like the Zika Virus and unsafe stories  some contestants have dropped out of the big tournament.

In conclusion if you host the Olympics in your country it is given the opportunity to get more money from tourists visiting the country, tourists will be going to that country more because of what it looks like from the olympics and that will get people buying more things from shops, using hotels and just having trips around the country.

Snowy Times

As Jim a Pro Snowboarder walked to the half pipe with his friends, Gail and Loui he shouted out to his friend. “Jamal!” shouted Jim. As Jamal looked to see who was calling out, he lost control and went sliding towards his friends. “Thanks Jim” Jamal sarcastically said while he was getting to his feet. “No problem” replied Jim. As they all welcomed each other they decided what their day was going to be like. They ended up with practice, eat, practice, have fun then go home for some Xbox. That meant that their day was going to be fun filled and tiring, they got the gears they needed and let the ski lift take them up the hill.

They got to the top of the hill and looked down they were a little scared but luckily it wasn't there first time. Gail surprisingly went first and challenged the others, the rest of them went down after him. As they were getting closer and closer to Gail he pulled a sharp turn and went down another path Loui followed him but Jim and Jamal kept going straight know that the two paths collide again. Jim and Jamal were going so fast no one could catch them, they go back into one path and they got ahead of Loui and Gail and had to brake a while before they reached the end. As they drift back to the Ski Lift to go again they see some people following them but they thought nothing of it. But it was weird they were always following them, as they went back down again they just tried to do cool tricks but Jim failed and went fumbling down the hill. Luckily he was tough but that one left a big bruise.

After coming back from lunch they were standing in front of what they wanted, the half pipe. They all smiled at each other and off they went. Everyone was doing awesome skills and tricks but when they got to the bottom they were all puffed out and luckily they didn't have to walk all the way back up. They were constantly going down and back up so many times until it started getting dark. As they went for their last run down the half pipe they realized that they couldn't find Jamal. Only his goggles were found. They thought that he was playing a trick on them but after they looked around the half pipe, cafe and the area, they knew he was missing.

They called the cops reporting a missing person. Soon there were police at the half pipe looking around and asking them questions. After that they all went out looking for Jamal but they only came back with his snowboard. After hours of looking they stood at the half pipe and saw Jamal. He was limping towards the ski lift and was dripping in blood. They raced down as fast as they could to see what happened and tried to help him.

Once they made it down the hill, they found out that he had been attacked by wolves. Luckily he had escaped with his life. As the ambulance began to go up the mountain, loud rumbles could be heard.  Seconds later tons and tons of snow came racing down the mountain towards the ambulance.  They were racing a real avalanche. Luckily the ambulance turned a corner and managed to avoid the avalanche. What a day!

This is our ending product with the paper on it, and we are proud. We are up to the stage of ripping off the paper, we have worked pretty well and hard on this piece of art.

Y8 Camp Reflection

Y8 CAMP

At the end of term 1 most of the year 8s went to Marsden Bay Christian Bay Camp for a school trip.

After the 2-3 hour drive in the bus we finally reached our destination and it felt good. When we hopped off the bus we were all told to grab some bags and put them on the deck and with 10 seconds of reaching the camp it started raining. After managing to take all the bags inside we sat down and ate our lunch. After lunch we go inside to the meeting room where we talk about our activities.

After we finished getting all the bags in we sat down in our groups, And then we had to learn about friendship, Teamwork and Kindness. One way they taught us how to learn teamwork was by tying our hands together and made us make fruit Kebabs.

After that we went to our cabins and set up our rooms and beds, three people from my cabin were unable to come. So as we set up our room we noticed that we only had five people and that there were ten beds. Not long after were called in to get ready for dinner. After we finished dinner the teachers asked if we wanted to stay up to stay and watch Johnny English, some people went back to their cabins to get there sleeping bag and pillow and some went back to sleep in their cabins. Halfway thru the movie it decided to crash so everyone ended up going to sleep or staying up talking.

Day #2

Today started off with breakfast, then we went to our meeting room to find out what activities we were going to do. But because it was raining we had to turn to plan B, so first we just had fun while we were suppose to be on kayaks in the water but we had fun. While we were drawing we were asked if we wanted to go on the kayaks me and Te Mauri were lucky enough to go on them for a little and then we chucked everyone in. Our next activity was the waterslide the best thing about the camp it was so fun. It was a huge slide that was awesome one kid even went and got his soap. After we finished our time on the slide we went to have a shower and change our clothes for our last activity. Our last activity was archery and it was awesome while the other boys left and played around that meant I was able to have more shots.

After we finished all our activities we went back into the meeting room to get told we were allowed free time, everyone ran outside but me and my cousin (Josh) went straight to the soccer gladiator cage. But not long after that I was told from a teacher to go to the Flying Fox because my mum wanted me to (My mum was working the on the Flying Fox). After I got to the flying fox I got to go up, and I was so scared but as soon as I hit the top I was amazed, at the awesome view amazed, Mind Blown. Still a little bit scared i decided to get this over and done with as I step over the edge I instantly forgot the fear and felt the pain of the harness.

After the free time was over we went to the meeting room to discuss how much time we would have to prepare our team item we ended up getting 1 hour to prepare our item. After we finished preparing our item we were told to head back inside for dinner. We finished dinner and went back in the meeting room to do our items.

Some were smart, funny, cool and weird in the end we came last. Once we finished that we were aloud to stay up and watch Johnny English 2 or go to sleep I decided to stay up and watch it, but again it crashed half way thru.

Day #3

Today was the day we were cleaning, clearing and preparing after 1-2 hours of cleaning we got ready to leave. As we got back to school we had to unload everything and then we got to leave.

The Immersion Assembly

Immersion Assembly

Early monday morning was the school Immersion assembly, meaning that today was the first day back at school. All of the teachers either made a movie or a live performance.

As I walked into the hall I was excited to find out what our topic for the term was going to be. Playing in the hall on repeat a song that resembled the following “All i do is art”. Some teachers were wearing some creative costumes like a pallet of paint and a hat as a brush.

Team one talked about doing their favourite things, Chocolate and more, they made a video and said all of their favorite things. Team two talked about seasons and how they were going to draw all different things.

Team three are doing Architecture they made a funny video like Grand Designs but it was just a tent.

Out of all 5 performances my favourite was Team 4, their topic is Comics they made a humorous video with super heroes, Bat Guy, Team Leader America, Wondering woman and the Villain Bear Baxendine..

As the team 5 teachers walked up to the stage they were dressed in colors of our House Teams Red(Te Aurere), Blue ( Hine Moana), Green ( Hokulea) and Yellow ( Hikianalia). They all lined up for a race, in the end Hokulea won.

TJSMZ Extension MTV

For about three to five weeks now we have been working on this MTV  In my group I have Jordan, Taimana, Stevenson and Moroni. Our song is bills by Lunchmoney Lewis but our parody is "I got Skills".

The Terrifying Forest

Autumn has just ticked over and some people were already missing Summer, but some people were looking forward to it like Jeff and Liam. Jeff and Liam are both the same age, 25. They lived in a house near a disturbing forest apparently was really nice before something happened.

Jeff and Liam always wanted to go into the forest but they didn't know what was in there, no one did. Some  nights they’d both look out at the forest entry and try see if anything came out. One night something came out of the forest, it was too dark to see exactly what it was but Jeff said “It looked like a tiny object” and since then he’s always wanted to explore the forest.

Everyone was told to never go in the forest which made made the boys more eager, and one day there curiosity got the best of them.

One day while Jeff and Liam were walking home from University they crossed past the forest and Jeff was just to excited he pressured Liam to go with him as they stood outside the entrance of the forest they heard noises, creepy noises rustling leaves, scattering and more. As they slowly started to walk through they heard someone yell there name and they both sprinted for the entrance finding out that it was there friend who saw them go into the forest, Jack.

Jack asked why they were even thinking of going thru there Jeff told them “It would be fun” and Jack replied “Oh, no no no no no!” Jeff and Jack argued for 5 minutes and then decided to all go into the forest.

As they all kept their eyes peeled for any movement they heard noises walking noises, crunching noises and weird noises as they were now speed walking they heard crying of a baby they rushed over to what looked like a baby and tried to pick it up it was just too dark to see what it really was.

Liam picked up the baby and felt how hard it was, when he noticed what it was right before it bit him Liam screamed with all his might and power  and screamed to the top of his lungs and yelled “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” as he flicked the doll of his hand they all started sprinting to the end when all of a sudden they heard laughing and footsteps that weren't theirs they looked behind them and saw so many dolls chasing them.

As they start to see the sunlight they feel things on there back little nudges on there back which increased their speed, heart rate and fear. Running towards the light, they were all scared and tired but they were determined to get out alive, coming closer and closer to the light. The boys just reaching the end just in time before one grabbing hold of Jack’s shoes, as soon as they got into the light the dolls decided to back away.

As the boys tried to catch their breath they were shocked at what had happened. As they kept running a little further they stopped to realise what just happened. They all agreed to never go in the forest again.
