This Year's Reflection

I felt like my first year in intermediate was  amazing, i definitely enjoyed my first year ever in intermediate. 2015, So far i’m enjoying the life of a senior, there are many good things about being a senior.

One thing I found very satisfying this year was all the trips we went on and how many activities we did. We did activities like friday sports, and trips like Rainbows end and Polyfest and soon Parakai.

The difficult parts in this year we're moving to more work and more difficult work. I also found work extra hard from Extension, Maths and Reading & Writing. I feel like this year I maybe could’ve done more work then I have done.

I’ve enjoyed the new teachers and the ways they teach and the way they talk to us.I think that the teachers are doing good for teaching us a lot of new things.

This year has been super fun, busy, challenging and cool. I want to be able to look forward to next year as I will be a year 8.

Overall I had a really fun year, did new things and accomplished new achievements. 2015 Was an amazing year in my opinion, and I thank all the teachers for teaching me.

Extension Reflection

This year, 2015 was my first year of being in extension and it was exciting. In my first year there was a new teacher, Mrs Lagitupu.

In extension we went on trips like Tiritiri matangi Island, Maritime Museum and the G.E.G NZ Summit, all amazing places. I learnt heaps of things while I was in my first year of extension, i'm definitely looking forward to next year.

We went to Tiritiri Matangi Island to learn about the endangered birds, and how or if we could help them. And also to take a look at the beautiful Island. This place was by far my favourite, we learnt heaps of different birds and saw heaps of different amazing views and did cool challenges.

Bioengineering

This term the Year 7&8 extension class has been learning about Bio-Engineering. Here is a presentation to show what we learnt and know.

Google Expedition

Today we had the opportunity to try the Google cardboard. We were using it to see around the world and we saw some famous buildings, Sharks and even stars.

The first thing we did on those cool gadgets were we were in a crater with a cave and we were with Sir David Attenborough, If you didn't know who David Attenborough is then he is a famous narrator of documentaries and a scientist. as you moved your head it moved in the phone.

They set us challenges to try and find things like a Python and a Mantis. We visited many places including Mt Fuji, Borneo Forest, In the ocean, Dubai, Burj Khalifa 43 floor and 120 I think, some kids were even screaming from the height.  In the ocean we could see heaps of bull sharks and some people, bull sharks are supposed to be the most vicious sharks.

We also went to space we could see the moon, heaps of stars and even a continent on earth. We were asked who could name the country, It was Africa. It was so cool in space and all the places.

The Google cardboard was an amazing gadget as it felt like I was actually in a different dimension and actually in the places. We were able to see heaps of cool things and I’d like to use it again. It would be cool if we could use it for learning somehow and just have some for fun.

A Time Something Went Missing

As I have grown up I have lost many thing’s, I wouldn’t be surprised if you have to, some things were important to me some were not.

I think that everyone loses something at once, me I have lost my favourite pair of shoes, my favourite hats my phone and my MONEY!!!. What I have missed out the most on was my money and shoes well actually I miss all of them.

But this will be about my phone, so on a sunny weekend me my cousin and my mum were outside at the park. While me and Louis were playing with the ball and playing music (on my phone), my mum was relaxing on the bean bag. We were playing soccer, taking penalties and trying to skill each other. After around an hour or so, we got bored so we all packed our stuff and drove home. After around 10-20 minutes it started raining.

When we got home we started playing xbox after the rain cleared I walked louis back to his house and back. When I got home I played some more xbox and then had a shower and went to sleep. When I woke up I went into the lounge had breakfast and then when to go grab my phone… But as I walked in my room it wasn’t where it usually was and after that I remembered, I didn’t bring my phone back home.

So I ran out to my mum and told her that “I left my phone at the park!”. As I was wondering if it broke (from the rain) and so I ran across to the park to see if my phone was there sadly it wasn’t I ran home and told my mum that “It wasn’t there”.

A few days later my mum got a call apparently someone got my phone and called my mum. I was pretty excited when she told me, he told her to pick it up at the dairy so a few days later my mum went to the dairy and got back for me. I don’t know if it was wet but I was happy when I saw it was still working.

Immersion Assembly

First day of term 4 2015, as usual there's always a immersion assembly at the beginning of the term. Some were still recovering from the holidays.

To start things off Mr Burt made a movie for the beginning of term 4 it was about an annoying bird called a fiapoko (bird), and how it annoying a couple of kids at their own house at point Dingaling. As it annoyed the kids it got so bad that they called the fiapoko exterminators, and the fiapoko exterminators came to the house and the kids showed them to the bird as the exterminators killed the bird. The exterminators took the bird back to the house and put it in the oven, after it was cooked they pulled out a bag of KFC. (In this film no fiapokos were hurt as they were made up).

As we walked into the hall we saw some teachers dressed up in dinosaur masks and tutus. At this moment we didn’t know what our topic was so we were ready for what was to come. It went in order from Team 1 to Team 5. Each team had their own movie. Team 1 is going to the zoo to see how the animals adapt and live in the zoo. And they had a karaoke competition, they chose kids from year 1 to year 8. The prize was a trip to the zoo with team 1.

Team 5’s topic was about adaptation and how others have adapted to the surroundings. The team 5 teachers (Miss Peato, Miss Hockley, Miss Ingrim and Miss Clark) made a game show and the teachers were contestants on the stage, they were having a noodle eating contest but the challenge was to eat it with chopsticks. The first person to eat it all wins, as they got ready to start we could tell who was going to win, As they ate one teacher, Miss Clark was speed ahead as in eating them and it wasn’t long for her to finish the plate. The reason she won so quickly was because of where she was brought up, she was brought up in Tibet a region in China. Which is where people use chopsticks, After she won the other contestants had something to say. They said it wasn't fair since they were from Samoa, Tonga, England and New Zealand, Miss Peato (Samoa) explained that where they're from they don’t use chopsticks.

GEG NZ SUMMIT Recount

On wednesday we went to GEG NZ Student SUMMIT (Google Education Groups) in Hobsonville Point Primary School.
We were greeted by Toby Carr CEO and Founder of DEXTECH.

The first place we went to was to a garage band presentation from a girl from Long Bay School. Her presentation didn’t go exactly the way she wanted it to but it was very helpful a lot of information. She used examples she was entertaining and a good speaker. We were not able to use garageband because of our computers. We noted this in a book and at the end she wanted a crowd so that she could sing using garageband in the background.

Then we went to go eat morning tea, before our first group presented, While the group got ready to present we went to go find a presentation we found one that was all about google apps like Google drive, Google Slides and Google Docs. They had online padlets for us to help them in there google slides and others…

The 3rd thing we went to was our presentation so we were all nervous and as soon as we got there. In this group was Mary, Collin, Taimana, Iisa, Ariana So we started presenting and the presentation was going good, Live actions. We were doing good as no troubles and everything was under control. There was work shown as well as animations.

Our final presentation for the day was google cardboard and the sphere. It was really cool and interesting. It is a thing on your phone and a cardboard box where you cover your eyes and you can move around and see things. Its kinda like Oculus Rift on your phone.

Immersion Assembly

Yesterday was the begging of term 3, so we had a immersion assembly. A immersion assembly is where we have a big talk about our topics for the term, it goes from Team 1 to Team 5.

Team 1's topic is, the kids from team 1 have a job to earn money by doing good things around the class. The kids are set to earn money to try and create a store at the Sunday market.

Team 2's topic is, trying to create and make ice cream and maybe in the future sell there ice cream to students in Pt England School. 

Team 3's topics is, Jobs the teacher got volunteers to say what they wanted to be when they grow up.

Team 4's topics is, Emotions they get when they get money. 

Team 5's topic is, Financially Responsible so we will be learning how we would use our money, how we spend it and what we would do with it.

The Last Day Of Term 2

So Today was the last day of term 2 2015 and it was also half a day, so now we are moving into the holidays there will be less post's from me.


So today after assembly I was in the lucky class who got to play doge ball for putting up the chairs so after three games we played te uru with Miss Tito, a maori game that was very fun and cool. After that we walked back to class to get ready for morning tea.


Morning Tea, I played soccer on the court until our ball got taken away then I left and played touch. Once that was over we went back to class to pack up for end of the term assembly. After assembly finished we said good bye to our teachers.

Birthday Party / Day Out

Laser Combat

On Sunday I went to Laser Combat with some friends Tai Josh and Steve I really enjoyed the day and I know that everyone else enjoyed it too.

The reason we went all the way to Laser combat in Papakura was because I had my birthday but we didn’t do anything so we went to that. I had soooo much fun at that place and I was also very scared because it was in the most haunted place in New Zealand the old mental hospital. It was right next to spookers and asylum Paintball as we walked past the paintball I was instantly excited.

As we walked in we saw people in proper gear and camo pants, bandannas.

So It

was awesome and freaky at the same time. The guns were the same weight as real war guns it also had really cool scopes really cool sights and awesome maps. The adults had these really cool big machine guns which was awesome. Because 4 of us went we were split into 2 Me & Tai verse Stevenson and Joshua. So as he sets up our guns we walk out to the first map, the first map was a outside map with tires every where as cover description: AWESOMELY FUN!!! The way we played was if we got hit 5 times we were dead and we would have to go back to our medic box to respawn. It was so cool how me & Tai stuck together stayed as a team and how we covered each other.

Every game we had a challenge to get the least respawns and most kills. The first game was a tie and the teams were Terrorist’s (Green Team) and Special OPS(Black Team) . So the first game was a tie and in the second game I think the Green team won. Third match my team won wooo amazing play from us. Fourth game we did i’m sure we did 3 hits 1 life no respawns so it was pretty intense, me and Tai managed to hold out the whole game which was really good. Last round was sooo cool just because I didn’t know what was next.

I never knew that, that was the last round on that map and the moment we walked into the other map me & Tai were sooooo scared. When we walked in there was shredded tire all over the floor which prevented you from running like allllllll over the ground. So as we went to our side’s of the map me and Tai decided not to go in the house so me and him stayed outside marking the doors. First round i’m sure went to the green team(opposition) so quite annoying but we kept trying to kill the other team and me & Tai stuck together fighting off the other team rushing us on the right pretty much Steve and Josh. But in the end we pulled it around and won the last and final round.

Then at the end we were reading how many kills we got how many hits we got and how many respawns. And I was very happy because I got the most kill’s and hit’s out of everyone even the parents because I got 27 kills, 93 hits and 15 respawn’s.

Everyone enjoyed that day I loveeeed it, I thought it was amazing I had a great time would recommend anyone else going there.

Week 5 Word Problems

Fifa U-20s NZ vs Ukraine

On Saturday I went to go watch the kick off game of the soccer U20s with my friends at the north shore stadium.


So I met with my friends in the city as they were going to take me to the game. After around 30 minutes we got outside the stadium, it took us quite a long time to get to our parking. After we finally got to a parking spot we quickly got out and headed to our Chairs.

As the game started we had the best seats for both half's except we could not see the Tv. But In the first half Ukraine was doing very good they got past the defense like 6 times. Ukraine were doing pretty good, good enough to get about 3 shots at the goal.

In the second half New Zealand did great. Pretty much every minute they were getting down to there defense in no time, New Zealand had many chances but for some reason they couldn't get a goal. There were a lot of amazing plays by New Zealand, but there shots just missed.

In the end it was a hooking game, very intense and it was a awesome time.

Technology To me

Technology To me is my LIFE.

Technology has gotten better over the years.

For me I think technology is better.

Facts:

1. It’s weird how phones have gone from two plastic bottles and a pipe to all the cords and wires.

2.People went from making homemade candles and now we have scented candles.

3.Batteries, Batteries have changed a lot from the olden days by the price the size and the amount.

4.The first computer was made in February 1946.

5. Technology has changed a lot since 1880, 1920 and we know that it has changed a lot.

My First Win

So, last saturday I had my second real club soccer game for Ellerslie out in Mount Roskill.

On the way to the fields the sky was grim, looking like it was about to rain. As we reached the field I jumped out of the car and I straight away noticed that none of my teammates were there. But after about five minutes the manager showed up with his son Luke so while we were waiting we kicked the ball around, practicing.

15 minutes on, more of my teammates came. Tino, Sam, Bailey and Harry. We started kicking more balls around while we waited for one more player. Soon, Tsubasa came, so because are in the 11th grade we have 9 players on the field and on saturday we only had 9 players.

So we had no subs and it was a tough game, for the first half it was a hard stalemate. The second half was more interesting. The first goal was scored by Tino a awesome goal as well, kicked it in with his left foot even though he is a right footer it also just slipped off the goalie's gloves. The next goal was scored by Tsubasa it was a very good goal set up by me and the goalie saved the shot but luckily Tsubasa was there to finish it in. The last goal was scored by the other team just past our goalie’s arms.

Recount Of School Memorial

On Friday the 24th of April we used our time to pay our respects to the men who went to war for us. We did that by standing still in front of our school memorial. While we stood still we had speeches and time to think what they did for us.

We also listened to a war song as we looked at the crosses. While we listened to the song and then the speeches. Mr Burt talked about the man who died and no one knew his name but god. That day most of us wore poppy’s.

Hokule'a And Hikianalia Arriving At Our Shores

On Wednesday the 25th of March all Manaiakalani school’s went to the Pt England beach. We went there to greet and see the crew of Malama Honua and also see them come in on the Hikianalia waka.

As we walked down to the beach more schools came, we had to sit in the hot sun and sit down on the wet grass. So slowly the Hikianalia sailed around the corner of the rocks to be sat on the water in front of us. We welcomed them with our waiatas after we our sang as they sang a special song back to us. They told very inspiring stories and interesting facts about the Hokulea, crew members and much more. Their journey is to sail around the world using old traditional methods.

There were 2 Pt England students that got the chance to be on the Hikianalia as it sailed in. They were very lucky and there were millions of camera’s well like 3 from each school. As the greeting came to an end we got to high five of shake hands with everyone connected with the Hokulea and Hikianalia. They are getting world wide famous and their main goal is to get more people to know the traditional methods of sailing as well as caring about our earth.

Slowly schools started returning back to their schools. “I was very happy to see these people doing amazing things”. As were are very lucky because the extension students got to go on the Hikianalia at the Maritime Museum. Being in extension has given me a chance to video conference with 2 Hawaii schools and a trip to the Maritime Museum.

Polyfest

Travelling around

POLYFEST YAYYY, So it is now the 40th birthday of Polyfest.

Kia ora to my post about Polyfest. Polyfest is a big day to see or perform cultural dances from all over the world Tongan, Maori, Samoan but most of all there is great food. Mostly I would enjoy Walking around seeing the Performance's, eating and enjoying the time with my friends. 


This is where you find new things taste new things and you can see awesome things. You could test your strength, your Instincts and it's just awesome. I encourage more people to go to Polyfest. You can see what company's have in order like Air New New Zealand (Airport), Globug (Energy company) and many more.

It is a awesome place "I certainly love the place"  and maybe you will to but sadly if you want to go now you can't well you have to wait till 2016 as it has already passed.

Miss Peato's Birthday

This morning it was one of our street teachers birthday. Her name Is Miss Peato I believe she is 29 and the rest of the teachers planned a surprise for her. While she was just about to present they did it.

They way they surprised her was by singing happy birthday as the came out of the green room with her cake. Mr Wiseman (Another teacher in the street) tried to open the door but his hands was full from his guitar, so he ended up kicking the door trying to open it with his foot.

As the rest of the teachers came out Mrs’s Tele’a, Mrs’s Moala and Miss Clarke with the cake.

Family Trip (Writing Test)

In February, 2014 my mum brang up the idea to go see my brother, of course I wasn’t gonna say no.

So me my mum and my sister decided to go see my brother, Mareva the reason we didn’t see him much because he was in Melbourne australia. He left when he was 17 and we went to visit him for his birthday. He is the second oldest of all my sibling’s at 20 years old so we got the plane tickets to see my brother.

March, 2014

So we were dropped off at the airport from my aunty and we bought some tickets and went into the plane area as we were walking around we went to change our NZ money to Australian money. So while we were walking around these fancy shop’s our plane was called as we went to go find our place to go onto the plane I saw a arcade and I was off. After playing a couple games we found where we were meant to go, and it was so crowded, but after around 30mins we were starting to board the plane.

So on the plane me and my mum were taking selfies and taking photo’s of the awesome landscapes. I wasn’t a very long trip only three and a half hours or so, I was enjoying the trip we brought some food played some games but then it was time to go and check out the Melbourne airport. So we walked around, and then we went outside to look for my mum’s friend who was gonna pick us up. For a while we were walking around and then we saw her and we loaded our things into her car and she took us back to her place.

Later on in the night around 1:00am my brother texted my mum and told her to meet at McDonalds so we went to McDonalds to see my brother. I was so excited to see him I don’t know what he looks like what he does so I was very happy to see him. As we drove into McDonalds we saw him leaning on his car so we parked next to him and hopped out the car to see him. I was first to give him a hug and Kaycee (My sister). As we were talking he showed me inside his car told me stories of drag races and he also gave me gum. As the night went on everyone got tired except for me so I wanted to go back to my brothers aunty’s with Mareva so I went off with him while my sister and mum went back to my mums friends place.

We quietly crept into the house into his room the time was about 2:00am and I was still pumped so as he went to sleep I was watching movies until I got tired and fell asleep. In the morning I woke up and went to the kitchen to find my brother and his cousin talking. So I went in and said hi and Mareva made me a breakfast and Milo. After breakfast we went to go see my mum and sister and once we saw them Mareva knew where to take them, to the mall. So we went to a mall and we saw a  movie called Captain america Winter soldier it was a really good movie and my mum and sister really enjoyed the mall.

After the day went my mum booked us a hotel call The Crown Hotel or Crown Plaza but I was amazing but for some reason our cards for the elevator didn't work so we had trouble with that so we got a new wasn’t much better the first thing we did was go to the pools so we swam there for ages and my brother came to the hotel later on as we got out the pool we went back to the room and we had my brother with us by then and we ended up sharing beds. In the hotel room the was an amazing view of the city.

We went for walks my brother took us to 3 more movies and I can’t remember the names. As we walked around the city we went to amazing place saw cool things and most of all had fun. I pretty much went where ever my brother went and I had the best time I could ever have.
